EarthSports

Exploring the outdoors with technology and community

EarthSports started with a base social networking package and we’ve been working with them ever since to expand their business and capabilities. By building custom modules and extending their platform, interested parties can: find, friend and meet up with each other, add custom content to the EarthSports community and even start their own micro-communities.

Manheim

Getting an Edge at Auctions

Manheim, the premier auto-auction company in America, came to us for a mobile website that their clients could use to access real time information during car auctions. We knew that in order to make vehicle information easily accessible and keep the data accurate up-to-the-minute, the project demanded a commitment to these details. We delivered a product with all of the vital features of the desktop site, but kept the information relevant to mobile users and enabled access from a wide swath of target devices.

Style Circle

Turning Readers into Creators

Style Me Pretty, the top-ranked wedding blog, came to us with a challenge: they wanted to engage their readers and draw them in beyond just the comments section. So we built the Style Circle, a Wordpress-integrated platform that gives brides-to-be and wedding vendors a place to meet, share stories and create artful Inspiration Boards that convey just the impression they want for the big day.

The reader response has been overwhelming, and Style Me Pretty has a powerful new tool for its core mission of bringing brides and vendors together. They are now working on a new spinoff site that will allow brides and wedding planners to securely collaborate over long distance--with coding muscle provided by DevelopmentNow.

Rémy Cointreau

Sailing Spoken Here

We partnered with Ogilvy and Rémy Cointreau to prepare the sailing-oriented online community for their "Sailing Spoken Here" Mount Gay Rum social campaign, ensuring that it can support the tens or hundreds of thousands of users expected from a million-dollar budget and a viral Facebook presence. The social network site is heavily integrated with Facebook and includes information on upcoming races and events, an ability to find and share with crews and other sailors, an iPhone app to manage calls and protests, and a geocentric bar finder for locating post-sail libations.

Dejaoffice_ss

DejaOffice

A Mobile Site for a Mobile App

DejaOffice is a mobile contact and calendar manager for iPhones and Androids, provided by the folks at CompanionLink. We built a number of iPhone and Android apps for CompanionLink as part of their research and development efforts, and mobilized dejaoffice.com to provide a compelling and attractive mobile site for users visiting the site on smartphones and other devices. Performance and brand consistency was important in the DejaOffice mobile project, to ensure that clients and customers could access the same information, opportunities, and design experience on any handheld device.

WikiWorldBook

Find and Be Found

We're all familiar with the clash between our need for privacy and the desire to be found on the Web. WikiWorldBook proposed an innovative solution: they would provide one location as a hub for all social media profiles, along with a masked email address that would allow you to separate long-lost friends from unwanted contact and spam.

Using Joomla and other open-source software, we developed a powerful and highly optimized engine for the site, which quickly attracted a vast user base. That engine achieved excellent search penetration, giving both their users and their advertisers exactly the tools they needed.

Connecting Without Borders

Good Technology, Better People

The founders of Connecting Without Borders had big goals and high expectations. They wanted to provide a place to meet new friends and potential romantic matches, while providing a safe atmosphere; they wanted to put a visible premium on diversity of experience and philosophy; and they wanted a site that would convey financial support for a number of worthy causes.

With Social Engine, we combined all these enterprises in one site. In addition to a fully Facebook-integrated social platform and a complete visual design solution, we provided algorithms that derive the "diversity potential" between users, encouraging them to pursue new avenues of personal growth.

Brownchiro_ss

Brown Chiropractic

Expanding Small Business Reach

Brown Chiropractic, a small business from Arizona, gave us the perfect opportunity to prove our skills with "brochure-style" mobile sites. We delivered a basic, yet professional product with all the basic contact and service information, while keeping the scope and cost consistent with the small business budget.

Proverb_ss

Proverb

A Compelling Portfolio for the Small Screens

When Proverb, an interactive agency in Boston, came to us for a basic mobile website that would show off their core competencies, we knew they would need a striking solution.

We created a mobile site that was easy-to-use and showcased their creativity with a rich layout, vibrant colors, bold photography and robust styling.

Free Ticket Exchange

Connecting Fans, Filling Seats

Ticket resales are restricted to prevent scalping, but where do you go when you're stuck with a ticket you can't use, or scrambling to find another at the last minute? Free Ticket Exchange fills this niche with an innovative bartering network that serves these demands. We led the conversion of their classic ASP-based site to .NET 3.5, and teamed up with StepChangeGroup to build a Facebook application for their users.

Illumined Connections

Lighting the Way

Illumined Connections isn't just a social network--it's more like a social-network factory. Using open-source software, its founders wanted to create a gateway for small organizations and nonprofits that required the power of a full networking engine without the full price tag. Thanks to our skills with the Dolphin platform, we gave them the tools to quickly replicate and launch new sites with all of the features, and none of the hassle.

Start-A-Fight

Reach Out and Punch Someone

Mixed martial arts (MMA) fighting is exploding in popularity, and enthusiasts are eager to demonstrate their growing prowess--occasionally on each other! Kevin Griffin seized this opportunity to create a new "Anti-Social Network" for fighters of every discipline, around the world: Start-A-Fight.

Starting with SocialEngine, we wrote extensive custom code to let users easily record the results of their matches and find former and future opponents online. We also assembled a matching engine pairing members by geography, weight class, experience, and other intelligent factors, that encourages them to connect and spar. Finally, we tied the system to Facebook and Twitter, so these athletes can share their skills and pride with everyone.

The Woodlands

Search for the Perfect Home— Away from Home

With The Woodlands, we created the perfect mobile site for users looking to purchase a new home. Using the New Home Search function, it's easy to browse listed homes based on location, price and size, and the site is accessible from a wide variety of mobile devices.

Absolute Best Care

Connect Quickly with Qualified Caregivers

Absolute Best Care, a well-known nanny service for New York residents came to us with a unique challenge: they wanted a mobile site that could bring parents and caregivers together while keeping the data from nanny registration forms secure and private. The solution we provided did just that while retaining the welcoming and safe look and feel of the desktop website.

Vanilla Elephant

Music for the People

For years the music industry has struggled to deal with the impact of digital distribution, but musicians themselves are often left out of consideration. Vanilla Elephant proposed a solution for connecting artists directly to their audience. Using a custom .NET platform, we created a hub for streaming video, "band battles," and direct song and ringtone downloads-providing independent artists and listeners exactly what they wanted without a middle man.

Libmob_ss

LibMob

Shrinking the Library

When LibMob approached us for a mobile website with book information and pricing, we saw definite potential in their idea. We created a very simple design that would appeal to users looking to easily access book and publication information.

Budbook_ss

Budbook

Growing Faster Than Ever

Budbook approached us with a delicate and controversial situation: though legal and useful for many, medical marijuana users face both cultural stigma and a crassness of reputation. The founders wanted to provide a community for these users with resources and tools for wider-reaching collective action, and a visual polish that would lend more legitimacy to their enterprise.

Thanks to our Social Engine experience, we were able to efficiently revamp their points of entry. Combined with extensive search engine optimization, Budbook was repositioned to more effectively bring people together on an issue fundamental to their audience.

Dealdar

Verified Hot Deals Near You

The culture of retail hype can be fun and exciting, but it has downsides-like waiting in line for a Wii, an iPhone, or even an opening-night movie ticket, only to get shut out by limited supplies. And when your friends tell you the store across town had plenty in-stock, the pain is even sharper.

We at DevelopmentNow have spent plenty of time in line playing idly with our smartphones, and it occurred to us that we could be using them to help solve that problem. So we built Dealdar, a mobile-optimized site that lets you search, list, suggest and vote up the best sales in town. You can even automatically find hot items nearby in real time, and spread the word on Twitter with one click. It was a fun, free project we put together in a week, and which garnered us some welcome publicity-including a write-up in USA Today.
